JLS Rods started as a custom rod company and while we still happily offer custom rods we have now turned to manufacturing our own line of rods. What sets us apart though is our commitment to building a fishing rod with the quality and level of components normally only found in custom rod in a product that can be bought and fished from the local tackle shop shelf. While most popular fishing rod companies spend their time trying to catch your eye and using cheaper, not as reliable knock off components like guides and reel seats we use only the best available components and leave out the unnecessary. In fact many times the eye catching trim parts make a rod heavier, and less sensitive.

Aside from that we continue with the custom rod quality promise by building each rod on the spine, utilizing Fuji’s suggested guide spacing and tailoring our guide trains to each blank by static loading the running guides to each blank in our line up. These are features virtually no other national rod manufacture use any more as they opt for using cheaper component brands, less guides and building their rods on the straightest axis to make them appear straight. Skipping steps and levels of quality we feel are crucial.

That’s not all, most rod companies have their rod blanks manufactured and the components partially or even fully assembled on the rod over sea’s then shipped to them. At JLS all of our rods are 100% assembled here in the U.S.A in our shop, never over sea’s and we source as many of our components as possible right here in the U.S. In fact even our rod blanks are manufactured in the U.S. by another small family owned business.

At JLS we felt by the rod companies taking this direction they have left a hole in the market, leaving serious anglers wanting a no nonsense rod, built for their style of fishing that would not let them down. From concept to your hand you can be assured we have paid attention to every detail.
