Accidents happen and at JLS we want you the angler to be happy.  It is  important to us at JLS to be able to offer you no nonsense, easy to understand, cut and dry, upfront warranty to our customers.  Please note custom rods have a separate warranty from our  JLS line of rods and it can be found at the bottom of this page.

Rod Blanks

From the date of purchase we replace your broke fishing rod for free up to 3 months (90 days) from the date of purchase with a receipt. 91 days from date of purchase to 6 months (180 days) we will replace your rod for 50% of the retail purchase cost with a receipt.

While we understand this may not seem like much compared to the advertised warranties from some other companies faulty or defective graphite will break with in the first time or two of use, honestly, it really is that cut and dry see the links below! in fact its rare for a defective blank to ever make it to market as we normally find the defect at JLS when we are trying to find the spine of the blank. Through the natural process of building a rod rod we  test each rod blank several times. Once the rod is complete and ready to go we yet again test each rod blank before it leaves our shop. To start a warranty claim you will need to call or email us. You will then need to ship the broken rod back to JLS (It can be cut in to small pieces to save on shipping) see the fist paragraph on this page for the address. The customer is also responsible to pay return shipping. We suggest taking a look at these links for more information on why blanks break.

Lifetime craftsmanship warranty

JLS rods will for the life of the rod fix, repair or replace your rod if any of our work fails.This covers things like reel seats coming loose etc. If you are not sure if your problem falls in to this category please feel free to contact us. Please note we do not cover things like cork or other material deterioration or other forms of normal wear.

Guide and tip top replacement

For the life of the rod JLS will fix or replace free of charge any broken or damaged guide or tip top. Simply get us the rod back and we will gladly replace the broken guide or tip top.  If you have the ability to, we will also happily mail you a tip top if you would like to replace it yourself. Please note JLS will not cover the cost if you choose to use another shop to replace your guide or tip top. However we do understand it is not always feasible to return a rod to us for a tip top or guide, in that case we  suggest using a local rod builder to make the repair.

What is not covered

Normal wear and tear, misuse, cork, EVA, finish yellowing, cracking or peeling etc. Please also note JLS Rods reserves the right to change or alter this warranty at any time. We also reserve the right to refuse warranty on any of our products that we deem to have been misused, abused or used in a way not suggested by us or the manufactures of the components used to make our rods. In a nut shell these are fishing rods, not walking sticks, battle axes or sling shots used to swing fish in to the boat. If you want your fishing rod to last and this includes a rod of any brand not just a JLS DO NOT SWING, LIFT or HOIST fish out of the water or in to the boat with them!  Fishing rods are tools and do have a life span just like your reel, line, lures etc. Things like sunlight, hitting against a T-top, throwing them in the bed of your truck and going four wheeling etc. will have an effect on how long you can expect to use them.  while we want you to be happy we can not and will not be liable for your misuse.  In the case you feel that you might have an unusual circumstance please call us, we just may go beyond whats written above to help you!

Custom Rod Warranty

Custom rods are defined as rod customized beyond our normal  line of rods that can be bought on this website or in a store. The only exception is the addition of name (not to include custom logo or name creation) or simple color change to the thread, all other modifications will be considered a custom rod and follow this warranty. Blanks will have a 30 day warranty in which we will replace the entire rod for free if the rod breaks. We will guarantee for the life of the rod our work/ craftsmanship.
