FAQs

General Information

Are your rods really made in the US?

When you buy a fishing rod from JLS you are supporting several small businesses and families. We strive to source as many of the parts and materials that go in to a JLS rod.

Our rod blanks are made in the US and each rod is 100% assembled and wrapped here in our shop or the shop of one of our workers. We never have our rods made or partially assembled in other countries like most rod companies.

No fishing rod from any company can 100% be made with products sourced in the US. Things like cork cannot be sourced here and there is no rod guide company that produces fishing rod guides in the US.

Do you offer a military or first responder discount?

Yes, we do offer 10% off for military and first responders. Simply call us before placing your order and we will make sure we get the discount applied to your next order.

Is the line rating for mono or braid?

Line ratings are so variable and made up across the industry that they should taken with a grain of salt. Our Line ratings are based on mono and meant more so to give you the angler and idea of how our rod may match up other rods you’ve used in the past.

Warranty

Do your rods come with a warranty?

Absolutely, please see our warranty page.

Can I bring a warranty to one of your dealers?

No, our dealers can not handle warranty issues. All warranty claims must go directly through JLS with the exception we do allow you to take our rod to another rod builder or tackle shop to have a new guide or tip top put on.

Will having someone else repair a guide on my rod void the warranty?

While we offer free guide and tip top replacement. we understand that it can be costly to get a rod back us. For that reason you are welcome to have a local tackle shop or rod builder replace the guide for you. Please note JLS will not cover the cost of another rod builder or tackle shop to replace the guide/ tip top. Free guide/tip top replacement only applies to rods brought back to us. However we can ship you a tip top at no charge and you are welcome to replace yourself. Please call us if you need a tip top shipped to you.
