Premier Fresh/Light Salt Casting Rod

Our premier rod line is our flagship line of premium fishing rods for fresh and saltwater fisherman which bring the advantages of a custom rod to a fishing rod you can buy right off the shelf. We start with mid-modulus all graphite rod blanks hand rolled here in the U.S.A. and built to our standards, design and JLS exclusive actions. Our rod blanks are up to 20% lighter and more durable than many major national brand rod companies. We achieve this by utilizing a scrimless design, instead using a double X core which adds hoop strength to our blanks. This reduces weight significantly while adding strength and reducing the ovaling rod blanks experience under load which cause fishing rods to break. Our standard grips are high density EVA trimmed with rubberized cork. We utilize these materials in our grips as they last longer and require less maintenance than cork. However for anglers who prefer we do also offer any of our rods with cork as well. Simply give us a call to order any of our rods with cork grips.

Next, Just like a person each rod blank has a spine. This is the natural way the rod wants to bend when under load. Just like a person its easier to bend forward than backward. We take the time to find the spine and ensure each of our rods are built on this natural spine. While this might seem standard it is not, virtually all major fishing rod manufactures build their rods on the straightest axis so that the rod looks straight to the end consumer.

While many companies are going to cheaper brands of components to meet price points we stay true to our custom rod quality promise by only using Fuji K series guides with fazelite braid proof rings and Fuji reel seats.

Speaking of guides, another great feature of JLS rods is our guide trains. While many manufactures might use concept guides such as Fuji they do not use true concept guide spacing nor do they static load the running guides to their blanks, choosing to eliminate one to three guides per rod to cut cost. Every rod we sell utilizes Fuji’s suggested concept guide spacing for the best possible casting distance. That’s not where we stop though, each rod is static loaded toward the end of the rod where the action is to ensure the correct number of guides are used adding strength and durability to the rod blank, while tracking the line with the  natural curvature of the rod blank when under load. A quick look at one of our rods and you will notice we use more guides than other major rod brands.

On models where sensitivity is desired, we use a true blank through reel seat design to keep your hand in contact with the rod blank for maximum sensitivity. We do this by eliminating the inserts all manufactures use which create a barrier between you and the rod blank. This is achieved through a JLS proprietary design in which we have not seen from any other fishing rod manufacture. We think you will find our Premier series rods light, sensitive, durable and a pure pleasure to fish with all day long.
